ABOUT S.A.D.D.

The Woman Behind the Mission

Brandi's Love Lives On

Before there was an organization, there was a mother whose love became the foundation for everything that followed.

Brandi was the heart of her family—a source of strength, comfort, laughter, and unwavering love to each of her children. The way she lived, the love she gave, and the lives she shaped continue to guide the purpose behind Sons Against Drunk Driving.

Her story is not simply where this mission began.

It is the reason it exists.

Keep the existing warm ivory background and minimalist aesthetic, but enhance it with a su

A LESSON THAT NEVER LEFT ME

Sometimes the Hardest Thing to Face Is Yourself

Long before there was a nonprofit...

Long before there was a mission...

There was a lesson my mother taught me that would stay with me for the rest of my life.

When I was a little boy, I fell from a second-story apartment balcony and had to be rushed to the hospital. The doctors saved my life, but I was left with a scar across my head.

As a child, that scar became all I could see. Every time I looked in the mirror, I cried. I avoided my reflection because I believed the scar defined who I was.

My mom never told me to stop crying. She never pretended the scar wasn't there. Instead, every day she stood beside me in front of the bathroom mirror, wrapped me in her arms, and sang "I'm Too Sexy" by Right Said Fred.

At first, I cried. Then I smiled. Eventually, I laughed. Little by little, I stopped seeing only the scar.

Without realizing it, she had changed something much deeper than my reflection. She changed the way I saw myself.

Looking back, I understand that she wasn't teaching me to ignore fear.

She was teaching me to face it.

Not alone.

But with compassion.

With encouragement.

With someone who believed I was more than the thing I was afraid of.

That lesson has stayed with me every day since.

Today, that same lesson lives at the heart of Sons Against Drunk Driving.

We believe prevention begins when people have the courage to face difficult conversations. To make responsible choices. To ask for help. To speak up for friends. To educate the next generation. To choose responsibility over impulse. To choose hope over regret.

Because courage doesn't come from pretending difficult things don't exist. It comes from facing them together.

That is the kind of future we are working to build.

“My mother didn't teach me to hide from what scared me. She taught me that love gives us the courage to face it.”

OUR MISSION IN ACTION

The Work We Are Committed To

Sons Against Drunk Driving was founded to transform personal loss into purposeful action. Our mission is to help prevent impaired driving, support families affected by it, and unite communities around choices that protect lives. We are carefully building a foundation of awareness, trusted partnerships, and practical assistance designed to create lasting change.

Impaired Driving Prevention

We are developing clear, accessible awareness initiatives that encourage people to think before one decision changes a life forever. Through future educational materials, community outreach, and prevention campaigns, we aim to keep responsible choices visible in everyday life.

Support for Affected Families

Families impacted by an impaired driver can suddenly face emotional, financial, and practical challenges without knowing where to turn. Our long-term vision includes an application-based assistance program that helps eligible families manage urgent costs and access trustworthy guidance during an incredibly difficult time.

Community-Powered Awareness

Preventing impaired driving requires the involvement of the entire community. We are working toward a network of businesses, organizations, advocates, and supporters who can display prevention materials, share the mission, raise awareness, and help reach people where they live and work.

Building for Lasting Impact

We are committed to building every initiative responsibly, transparently, and with room to grow. As funding and partnerships develop, S.A.D.D. will expand its ability to provide family assistance, create prevention resources, and establish sustainable programs that can protect future generations.

The Future We Are Building

Our vision extends beyond a single campaign or program. We are building S.A.D.D. to become a trusted, lasting organization that helps prevent impaired driving, provides practical assistance to affected families, and brings communities together around safer choices. Our goal is to create a foundation strong enough to grow beyond its founder, serve future generations, and ensure that no family faces preventable loss—or its aftermath—alone.

A future where fewer families experience preventable loss—and no family affected by impaired driving has to face the aftermath alone.

A PERSONAL NOTE ABOUT OUR VALUES

There are moments in life that quietly shape who we become.

For me, it wasn't one extraordinary conversation.
It wasn't one life-changing speech.
It was years of watching my mom live with compassion, patience, courage, and unconditional love.

She never tried to teach those things with words.
She taught them by the way she treated people.
By the way she stood beside me when I was afraid.
By the way she made people feel seen.
By the way she always found hope, even during life's hardest moments.

When she was taken from our family by an impaired driver, I lost my mother.
But I refused to let the lessons she gave me disappear with her.

For a long time, I asked myself what honoring her life should actually look like.
The answer was never found in anger.
It wasn't found in blame.
It was found in continuing the example she lived every single day.

That is why Sons Against Drunk Driving exists.
Not simply because something terrible happened.
But because someone extraordinary lived.

“I couldn't choose how my mother's story ended. But I could choose how her legacy continued. Sons Against Drunk Driving is that choice.”

Every decision we make as an organization is measured against one simple question:
Would this reflect the kind of compassion, courage, patience, and hope that Brandi showed every day?

If the answer is yes...
We're moving in the right direction.

Those values are not simply ideals written into our organization. They are the principles my mother lived every day. They shaped who I became. They inspired this mission. And they continue to guide every decision we make as we work toward a future where fewer families experience preventable loss.

OUR FOUNDATION

The Principles That Guide Every Decision

These values were not created in a planning meeting or written because every nonprofit needs them. They were shaped by a remarkable woman whose compassion, strength, patience, honesty, and love continue to inspire this mission. Today, those same values influence every decision we make, every partnership we build, every educational program we create, and every life we hope to impact.

Compassion

A promise to treat every individual with dignity.

We promise to treat every individual and family with dignity, empathy, and understanding, especially when they are facing fear, grief, or hard conversations. Just as Brandi stood beside those she loved, we stand beside our community with unwavering kindness and presence.

Responsibility

A promise to choose safety over impulse.

We promise to encourage better decisions before lives are forever changed—helping people speak up, ask for help, and choose safety over impulse. This sense of responsibility was mirrored in Brandi’s simple yet profound lessons about facing the things that scare us with collective strength.

Community

A promise to face these challenges together.

We promise to build partnerships that strengthen neighborhoods, schools, businesses, and families so no one has to face these issues alone. Change only happens when we stand together, just as Brandi stood beside her children, offering the warmth of community in the face of fear.

Hope

A promise to believe that safer futures are possible.

We promise to believe, even on the hardest days, that awareness, education, and action can create safer futures for generations to come. Brandi taught us that love gives us the courage to face what scares us, and in that courage, we find the hope to rebuild and protect.

Education

A promise to prevent tragedy through knowledge.

We promise to give people the knowledge and tools to prevent tragedy before it happens, not only respond after lives are changed. By fostering the same clarity and straightforward honesty Brandi lived by, we empower others to choose safety before loss occurs.

Legacy

A promise to honor a life well lived through action.

We promise to honor Brandi’s life by turning her everyday example of love and courage into work that protects other families. We convert the quiet power of her story into practical efforts that ensure her legacy is not just one of memory, but of continuous impact.

Values only matter when people choose to live them every day. The team behind Sons Against Drunk Driving is committed to carrying these promises forward through action, service, and leadership. We invite you to continue scrolling to meet the people who are responsible for living out these promises.

A LASTING LEGACY

Carry Brandi's Legacy Forward

Some legacies are measured by what people leave behind. Others are measured by the lives they continue to change. Brandi's legacy lives on through every conversation that encourages a safer choice, every classroom that receives life-saving education, every partnership that strengthens a community, and every family that is spared the heartbreak of a preventable loss. That is the future we are working to build.

When Sons Against Drunk Driving was founded, it was never meant to become a monument to tragedy. It was created to become a movement rooted in compassion, education, responsibility, and hope. Every educational resource we develop... Every school we partner with... Every community that joins our mission... Every student who chooses responsibility... Every family that makes it home safely... Becomes another chapter in Brandi's legacy. By supporting this mission, you are helping build something that extends far beyond a single organization. You are helping create a future where education reaches people before tragedy does, where communities work together to protect one another, and where fewer families experience the kind of loss that inspired this mission.

“The greatest way to honor Brandi's life is not simply to remember her. It is to help build a future where fewer families have to experience the loss that inspired this mission.”

Every contribution helps expand educational outreach, launch school awareness initiatives, strengthen partnerships with communities, develop trusted educational resources, and build an organization dedicated to protecting future generations. Together, we can transform one family's story into hope for countless others.

In loving memory of Brandi. May her legacy continue protecting families for generations to come.
